Reasons for Joining CM Plus Corporation
As a student, I wanted to work for a manufacturing industry. CM Plus is a consulting company which proposes the optimal solutions to issues which client companies such as drug manufacturer have. I applied for a job to CM Plus as I thought I could work for a manufacturing industry from the client's perspective and I felt it would be rewarding to join an environment where advanced specialty is required as a consultant.
Specific Description about My Job
Currently, I am working on a project to construct a new plant for a pharmaceutical manufacturer. As a project engineer, I am in charge of choosing production equipment for the new plant. The first thing to do is to collect information and organize the needs of our client to see what kinds of production equipment the client wants to install. The next thing is to crystalize the needs into a visible form by preparing plans (drawings) and documents based on the information. Once the specifications of equipment are determined, then my role is to manage schedules and costs and to provide support for the processes from placing orders to equipment manufacturers, manufacturing, delivery to the site, installation, trial run, qualification, to actual operation so that the project will proceed smoothly.
What I Keep in Mind at Work
I'm always deeply aware of managing schedule, which I recognize as the basics of business. Specifically, schedule directly affect quality and costs at the construction project site, thus schedule management is extremely important. I always try to understand the position of my part in the whole schedule and to figure out how the project could be affected when my part of the project delays.
Fulfilling Moments
My fulfilling moment comes when we work on a project with many people including our client and finish it successfully. Great project management skills or advanced specialty will be required for the success of a project such as constructing a pharmaceutical plant. I feel my job is interesting as each of us has our own role and works together for the success of a project. Also, I feel motivated when we successfully make our client happy and satisfied by our work through the project.
Challenges at CM Plus Corporation and Aspirations about Myself
As a wide range of knowledge is essential for guiding a project to success. Therefore, I study project management, engineering for pharmaceutical facilities, and expertise in GMP. In the future, I would like to be a professional who is an expert in a specific area and also can serve as a project coordinator. Luckily, I have an advantage that I work at CM Plus, which has a number of such professionals, thus I would like to learn a lot from them.
Others (How I Spend Leisure Time, Hobbies, etc.)
As I used to be a member of the basketball team back in college, I play basketball during weekends as a member of an casual amateur team. Other than that, I love to travel so I visit many places from time to time.
Schedule of a Day
- 8:30 Arriving the office
- Checking emails and schedule, and make a plan of the day.
- 9:00 Preparing for an in-house meeting
- Checking and preparing files, and setting the room up for the meeting.
- 10:00 In-house meeting
- Having a meeting with the project members at CM Plus to review the current status of the project and to discuss what we would discuss at the next meeting with the client.
- 11:30 Fixing schedule for the next meeting with the client
- Contacting the client and fixing schedule for the next meeting based on the client's convenience.
- 12:00 Lunch
- I bring lunch and have it with young colleagues.
- 13:00 Attending an in-house study meeting
- At CM Plus, we hold in-house study meetings on a regular basis. I attend the meeting and learn and study a lot for acquiring and accumulating knowledge of project management and expertise in drugs every day.
- 15:00 Reviewing materials for the next meeting
- Reviewing materials for the next meeting on my project. At CM Plus, we have senior colleagues with various expertise and they provide us with their advice so that we can optimize our proposals.
