Reasons for Joining CM Plus Corporation

It wasn't my plan to work at a Japanese company so I went to the career fair of Japanese companies held for foreign students only for the purpose of meeting my friends. At the fair, I visited some booths out of curiosity. I could imagine what they did when I visited some manufacturers' booth. At that fair, CM Plus was the only company about which I could not figure out what they did. I applied for a job because of the message of Tsunehiro Togashi, the founder & Group CEO, that "the employees are our assets", and the word, "family" in the company pamphlet. The fact that I had no idea about their business was part of the reason why I applied for the job.

Specific Description about My Job

I am engaged in various tasks depending on projects. Currently, I am working on a project to construct a manufacturing plant for cellular and tissue-based products*1. In this project, we need to perform qualification to learn if required equipment including manufacturing machines are appropriately installed and operate according to the specifications required to produce products. For that purpose, I am in charge of preparation of instruction manuals for the qualification. In the process, I work with our project members and determine the items to check by referring to some materials such as blueprints.
In the end, we would join the team which implements tests or review the results in order to check if the qualification was performed correctly. Specifically, I am in charge of facilities such as low-temperature rooms, purified water generators, or central monitoring facilities (as of August, 2017).
*1 Cellular and tissue-based products: products which contain genes which are expressed in human or other animal living cells or human bodies.

What I Keep in Mind at Work

CM Plus provides support for life science companies which manufacture products possibly threatening human health or lives. Therefore, I always try to remember that product quality and patient safety should be ensured.

Fulfilling Moments

I feel fulfilled when I enjoy working with our colleagues who also enjoy doing their work.

Challenges at CM Plus Corporation and Aspirations about Myself

So far, I am just enjoying what I am doing at every moment. My expertise is in machinery so my current interest is to look into mechanical technologies in greater depth. It seems air-conditioning-related areas would be interesting.

Others (How I Spend Leisure Time, Hobbies, etc.)

Enjoy doing house works and spending time with my family. In winter, I love to snowboard!

Schedule of a Day

My schedule of a day when I have the task to prepare instruction manuals written above. Please note that I don't work at the Yokohama HQ but a construction site of the new facility.

8:30
I check emails, review my daily tasks and make a plan of the day.
9:30 Meeting with the person in charge of low-temperature rooms
I review the specifications, the construction plan, and the trial run plan with the person in charge of the room.
Also, I explain the format of the instruction manual as well as what should be included to the person.
10:30 Reviewing materials
I review the materials received at the previous meeting and check if they contain data sufficient enough to prepare an instruction manual.
▷This is an approx. 300-page Japanese document including the product specification document, blueprints, and trial run plan.
12:00 Lunch
I bring my own lunch (made by my wife!) as we don't have many restaurants around the site.
13:00 Meeting
I check the current status of the other facilities.
As to the low-temperature rooms, I check the requirements provided by our client and include them into the instruction manual.
14:00 Preparing a draft instruction manual for qualification of the low-temperature rooms
I prepare a draft based on the materials we received.
It would take around 3 days from this point as I would ask the person in charge of the low-temperature rooms, the client, and my manager to check the document.
The final document which would be submitted to the client would be 80 pages long and this has to be prepared in English. Therefore, English skills will be required.
17:00
I review what we've done today and make a list of tasks for tomorrow.
17:30 Leaving the site
