On September 16, 2026, CM Plus fully renewed and relaunched its Overseas Factory Construction Information Platform (https:\/\/og.cm-plus.co.jp\/<\/a>). This is the first major overhaul since the site was established in August 2020.<\/p>\n

Companies considering a factory expansion into Southeast Asia almost always run into the same obstacle at the outset: reliable on-the-ground information is difficult to obtain, and verifying the facts usually means visiting the site in person. With this renewal, we have reorganised our accumulated research so that it can be navigated by purpose, and we have launched new column series by external experts with deep practical knowledge of the region, alongside field reports written by our own team.<\/p>\n

\u25a0 First-hand information from our local subsidiaries, edited by factory construction practitioners<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

The information we publish is gathered and verified through collaboration between our staff in Japan and the staff of our local subsidiaries in Singapore, Vietnam and Indonesia. Rather than second-hand information circulating online, our content is grounded in the real conditions our local staff observe directly. It is then edited from the standpoint of a project management company for factory construction, which understands what information is genuinely needed in the field. The site covers industrial parks and government permit procedures in more than 10 countries, and no membership registration is required.<\/p>\n

\u25a0 New column series by experts in Vietnamese business practice<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

To mark the renewal, we are launching new series by two external experts. Both are contributing to this site for the first time.<\/p>\n

ONE-VALUE Inc.<\/strong> (operator of VietBiz, a media outlet specialising in the Vietnamese economy and business) contributes a three-part series by Mr. Hiromasa Saito. Part 1, “The Vietnamese Way of Working That Japanese Expatriates Should Learn First<\/a>,” sets out practical methods built around a single idea: conversion rather than transplantation. Instead of importing Japanese management methods wholesale, quality standards are upheld while the way instructions are issued and the mechanisms for verifying work are redesigned to fit local workplace culture.<\/p>\n

BETOHO LAWFIRM<\/strong> contributes the “Vietnam Manufacturing Investment and Practice Series<\/a>” by its Managing Attorney, Mr. Bui Hong Duong. Part 1 examines the legal nature of the MOU. Documents titled “MOU” are, in substance, frequently conditional lease agreements, and when disputes are traced back to their origins, the starting point of the problem often lies not after factory completion but at the initial screening of candidate sites and at the MOU stage. It is an observation that only an experienced practitioner can offer.<\/p>\n

We also plan to publish contributed articles from several other partner companies.<\/p>\n

\u25a0 Living locally, walking the ground \u2015 two new series by CM Plus members<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

“From the Street Corners of Singapore<\/strong><\/a>” is a column by Tsunehiro Togashi, founder of CM Plus and Group CEO of CM Plus Singapore Pte. Ltd., who has lived in the city for eight years. He tracks how Singapore is changing by setting everyday observations against the statistics. Part 1 examines a market in transition: EVs accounted for just over 60% of new vehicle registrations in the first half of 2026, BYD took the top sales position, and the European premium brands that once loomed large slipped to fourth and fifth place.
\nPart 2 is titled “After Cars, a Change of Lead Players in Factory Construction: Taiwan in Semiconductors, China in Pharmaceuticals.” It argues that specialist Taiwanese engineering firms are taking the lead in front-end semiconductor fab construction, and that Chinese players are strengthening their position in biopharmaceuticals through modular construction. At the same time, Japanese companies are building new plants locally in the upstream materials segment, leaving areas where Japanese general contractors can still take on the construction work.<\/p>\n

“Industrial Park Field Notes<\/strong><\/a>” is a new series that reports what specification sheets alone cannot convey: the atmosphere of a site and the actual progress of land development, observed in person. In the first instalment, Eriko Tayama, a Senior Consultant at CM Plus who has lived in Vietnam for more than 20 years, visited Long Duc 3 Industrial Park, developed by Sojitz. Drawing on her June 2026 site visit, she reports on the progress of transport infrastructure, including Long Thanh International Airport, which is targeted to open in December 2026, and on the support framework available to Japanese companies. Subsequent instalments will visit industrial parks in central Vietnam, where development is accelerating, and the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ), which is showing signs of moving into full swing.<\/p>\n

\u25a0 Bringing “Japan Quality” to sites overseas<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

The articles we are publishing share a common perspective. The quality standards and working methods cultivated in Japan should not be abandoned; they should be translated into forms that actually function on the ground overseas. The real question is whether value can be delivered across the entire project lifecycle, from design and procurement through to post-handover maintenance and operation, and not at the single point of construction. As the change of lead players advances on factory construction sites, we believe this is precisely what is now being tested.<\/p>\n

Our goal is to achieve, in overseas factory construction and manufacturing operations, the same standard of quality and reliable execution that is taken for granted in Japan \u2015 what is commonly called “Japan Quality.” CM Plus does not stop at providing information through this site. Our head office in Japan and our local subsidiaries work together to support projects end to end, covering site selection, feasibility studies, design supervision and government permit applications. We hope this site serves as a useful starting point for that first step of gathering information.<\/p>\n
